Editorial Review

Overlord is a groundbreaking, completely original action adventure, set in a seriously warped fantasy world. Controlling a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the evil, long-dead Overlord, the player emerges, near death, from the ruins of the old Overlord's Dark Tower. Only the player's actions will determine if they will rise to become the new all-powerful Overlord; it's all down to how much of a bad ass they want to be in order to succeed...evil or really evil! Played out with plenty of black humor and dark irony, the game will immerse players in twisted parodies of classic fantasy scenarios and characters.

Really really funny and quirky game! 4 out of 5

The best part of this game is the quirky humor. I found some of the puzzles and tricks to navigation a bit of a pain and didn't go all the way to the end, but it was WELL WELL worth playing just for the quirky humor and funny graphics and game play. Be prepared for some wild surprises! It is also so funny and crazy that it can be fun just to replay parts to have your little minions smash and destroy stuff. It's a little rough around the edges in some aspects, but all of it is completely forgotten on account of the crazy insanity of the game play.

Good art, but a bad game 3 out of 5

This game won an award in Britain for the best video game script of the year, and it's easy to see why. The adorably evil minions, suitably stupid peasants, allure of destruction, and twisted sense of humor cannot be called anything less than awesome. So why isn't this five stars? If it were reskinned and rescripted, it wouldn't have sold five copies. Combat is mindless, made difficult only by the sheer ineptitude of your followers and the problems that occur when trying to control them. The puzzles are hardly better, and an irritating number of them revolve around the main character being too lazy to turn a wheel and his minions being too frail to get past the creatures guarding the wheel. Even the destruction gets tiresome--I kept having to call my creatures back after I accidentally set them to smashing yet another stack of crates. Just watch a gameplay video on Youtube.

well done 4 out of 5

Overall this is really fun game and I had a blast playing it. The controls are a little rough to get get used too but one you have it down it is a lot of fun. I would have gave it a five star rating but for me after I finished the game I didn't want to play it anymore. Possibly becuase I was about mid way through fall-out 3.

overlord rocks 5 out of 5

i loaded Overlord soon as it came in the mail, grapichs were smooth, game play was easy and entertaining, the choice between evil and super evil is always a nice touch, definently woth having and playing over again time after time

Overlord PC 4 out of 5

I really like the game. I bought it to see if I'd like it before spending $50 on one of the new ones for a different system. I would definitely buy the latest games.
I had some trouble learning the controls. They aren't the easiest to use and take some getting used to. The most difficult part of it is controlling your minions.
The graphics are fine and I have had no other problems so far.
