Worked on my mac book pro OSX 10.6 4 out of 5

Worked on my mac book pro OSX 10.6

Skipped the drivers on the disk and downloaded them from the manufacture's website. The adapter shows up as a modem on my mac. Launched Z-term and told it to use the new usbmodem - bingo in business. Working away via my serial connection without an issue. Enjoy!

Works well does what it needs too 4 out of 5

Serial ports are getting rare and hard to come buy on the average computer. So we converted our serial cables at our Survey office to USB. This works quite well though some archaic systems will insist on talking directly to the serial COM port which won't work. However using hyper terminal worked just fine for downloading data off HP48gx

Worked on Windows 7 without any hastles 5 out of 5

works well - now, the GPS connects to my computer. I had to download a driver from sabrent web site.

Not good for VISTA 1 out of 5

We ordered this product because Amazon technical information indicated that was compatable with Windors Vista, but the product intructions on the package do not mention VISTA.

Drivers Out-of-Date for Windows Vista 3 out of 5

This product comes WITH NO DOCUMENTATION and has only a POORLY WRITTEN "READ ME" FILE on the disk (if you know how to access it). The disk has several DRIVER files shown in its 'directory', but doesn't help you choose which one to use. I tried them all individually for my application and NONE OF THEM WORKED.

This USB-Serial adapter cable may work fine for those with older computers NOT running under Windows Vista. But if you are operating under Windows Vista, it is unlikely you'll be able to use it unless you go to the following web site and download the driver file available there.

ADDED EDIT:
Amazon will not let you post a 'link' to another web site that sells anything..... so you will have to use a 'Google Search' and input "Sabrent Corporation, Ltd" to find it yourself (usually first listing), then find "cables" in the sidebar, and then the cable name/model you need a driver for, and then select as directed below.

Once you load this page, you'll have to click on the "GO TO DRIVERS" box to the upper right of the picture of the cable. For Windows Vista, pick the UPPER SELECTION. Download and SAVE to your Documents under a folder created for COMPUTER DOWNLOADS - that way you'll always have a 'safe copy' of it if need again later. Once downloaded, you can go to DOCUMENTS and double-click on that filename to install it on your computer. Windows Installer takes over from there - have your cable and associated device handy to plug into your USB port if/when Windows Installer might request it. Once I finally located the file after almost 1 day of trying to locate the[...] web site, everything fell into place and went quickly after that. I then used it to connect my "Equus 3160 Innova ABS + Professional CanOBD2 Diagnostic Code Scanner for OBDII Vehicles with Back-lit Screen and Enhanced Live Data" to my laptop computer to upload data and check for updates for it.

You may want to Bookmark the [...] web site in case you have other products made by Sabrent since they have a 'Support' and 'Driver' area for different devices they support.
